Week of action and student strike in solidarity with Palestinian resistance
Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal, October 2, 2025 – Divest for Palestine (D4P) collective and the Convergence des luttes anticapitalistes (CLAC) are calling for a broad popular mobilisation from 6 to 12 October 2025 in solidarity with Palestine. This week of action aims to reaffirm the legitimacy of resistance to the colonisation of Palestine, by all means necessary.
33 student associations representing more than 35,000 students have already voted to strike on 6 and 7 October. 21 additional associations (40,000 students) have also planned strike assemblies in the coming days. Finally, 71 civil society organisations have supported the week of action and its demands.
Among the planned actions, D4P and CLAC are organising a day of workshops focused on anti-colonial resistance on 6 October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the University of Montreal, as well as a gathering on 7 October at 4 p.m. at Square-Victoria.
The organizers denounce the instrumentalisation of the date of 7 October to justify the genocide of the Palestinian people. As Benoît Allard, spokesperson for the D4P collective, points out: “The real tragedy is that we are allowing “Israel”, the aggressor, to take on the role of victim and use it to pursue a colonial genocide.’’
The week of action aims to highlight the Palestinian people's ongoing resistance to the Zionist colonial project. “October 7 not only exposed to the whole world the extent and horror of the Zionist colonial project, but it also showed that no control mechanism, however brutal, will overcome Palestinian resistance and its struggle for liberation,’’ says Safa Chebbi, spokesperson for the D4P collective.
In solidarity with the Palestinian resistance, the organisers and their allies reiterate that Canada and Quebec must immediately cease all complicity with the ongoing genocide. They demand immediate sanctions, a bilateral embargo on arms and military equipment, and the termination of all military, economic, commercial, political, diplomatic and cultural ties with the colonial entity ‘Israel’. This includes ending the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement and closing the Quebec office in Tel Aviv.
The call for a week of action echoes that launched on 20 July 2025 by six political groups and resistance organisations in the Gaza Strip. They call on all activists around the world who support the Palestinian people's struggle for liberation to intensify their actions to ensure that their governments cease all support for or complicity with the Zionist entity.
