The Media Co-op recently learned about the sudden passing of Valerie Barnes Connell.

Val had been a member of our board of directors since 2023. She was one of the few journalists covering social justice issues in northern Saskatchewan, mostly for local and regional publications in that area. She was an enthusiastic and valuable presence on the board and she brought an important perspective to our work. She will be missed.

Our condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones.

You can find her final opinion column and more of her recent writing on the Prince Albert Daily Herald website.
